Despite a new movie on the horizon, it seems that Captain Marvel can't quite support an ongoing series--Marvel has announced today that the current run, written by Kelly Thompson, is coming to an end in June with Captain Marvel #50 and will see Carol Danvers mark an end of an era with a double-sized issue.
While it seems highly unusual to not have a title on the stands to coincide with a major motion picture, we anticipate that a new creative team will be announced soon enough with a higher, faster and perhaps even further relaunch.
Meanwhile, the Captain Marvel sequel titled The Marvels has been pushed back to November 10th from its original date, July 28th. The forthcoming movie will see the big screen premiere of Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel.
