When you think of the DC cinematic world these days, you think of a world in flux. Is Gal Gadot still Wonder Woman? Is Jason Mamoa Aquaman or Lobo? And who will play Superman in the end?
So many questions with so few answers. What we do know, however, is that we have a Batman sequel on the way courtesy of filmmaker Matt Reeves and yesterday, there was some tea spilled that there's a chance we may have our first live action Clayface appearing in the 2025 release.
The Direct reported that Mike Flanagan, the creator of The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass is very passionate about the moldable villain and has approached WB about making a standalone film. Then some reports contradicted that initial report saying that because of Flanagan's push, Clayface is being added to Batman 2.
While we don't normally report on rumors, not since the movie Ghost have we been so excited about clay. Moreover, Reeves's Gotham City is very much the closest thing we have in the Batman cannon to a real life feel, and we can't wait to see that manifestation, or version, of Clayface if in fact these rumors are true.
In the meantime, the imagination of the Internet has taken off and artist Jaxson Derr has created a demented yet practical interpretation of an otherwise giant lump of mud. It'll keep you up at night.
